Overview of Works:

Interline Ferries NZ operates shipping services across the Cook Strait from Wellington in the North Island to Picton in the South Island, a voyage of about 3 to 3.5hrs in duration. The operating vessels are freight and passenger carriers of approximately 184m in length, a beam of 22m and gross tonnage of 22,000 tonnes.

Asset Engineering Services entered the Interislander business and performed a strategic, evidence-based review of engineering plans, processes, procedures, tools, and evaluation of staff in terms of their competencies/capabilities and knowledge. From this review, a gap analysis was undertaken, and an Asset Management Plan developed, along with a Business Improvement Program.

Asset Engineering Services worked to build business capability and improve vessel reliability by developing a comprehensive, tailored Ship Improvement Program of Works, as one of the strategies we identified within the Asset Management Plan. The Program of Works was guided by our assessment of asset criticality and the condition of each of the ship’s major components.
